Each year, our church community has an opportunity to enjoy a great family weekend escape to the Shrine Mont conference center located in Orkney Springs, Virginia. Orkney Springs is a beautiful, serene community nestled among the trees at the foot of Great North Mountain in the Shenandoah Valley and is located approximately 2½ hours west of the DC area. Activities include hiking trails, volleyball/pickle ball/tennis courts and other sports, and other outdoor activities.  Shrine Mont website https://www.shrinemont.com/. 

Families typically go on Saturday and return on Sunday, but some folks arrive on Friday night. Friday night includes dinner, Saturday includes breakfast, lunch and dinner and Sunday includes breakfast and lunch (yes, their famous fried chicken dinner).

This event is a new tradition which began 2024 with the new St. Martin de Porres church.

On All Saints Sunday, we light candles to remember the faithful who have died over the past year.  This service also includes a healing prayers.  This is a traditional service which began 2022.

On Christ the King Sunday, the parishioners' pledges received during the Stewardship Campaign are placed in a netted package tied with ribbon and are blessed with a special prayer from the rector.

Our traditional Christmas Eve service with Silent Night sung by candlelight.  Generally a collection is given to the rector at this service.

A new tradition requested by parishioners is a lay-led Lessons and Carols Service.  Folks are asked to wear their Christmas Sweaters, Sweatshirts, Christmas socks, etc.  This is a casual laid-back service which has been enthusastically embraced by the parishioners.

Begin Holy Saturday with a short devotion at 9:15 AM at St. Mark's Campus followed by decorating of the church for Easter.
