Lectors, Lay Readers, Intercessors

A lector’s primary function during the Liturgy of the Word is to proclaim God's Word to God’s people so that, strengthened by the words of Holy Scripture, they might come to a deeper love of God and a fuller Christian life.

Lectors read the Old and New Testament texts and lead the Psalm and Prayers of the People.

The ministry is ideal for anyone who enjoys both public speaking, in a low key way, and the opportunity to share the Word of God.

Lectors serve at the Sunday morning services and at the special services during Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter.

The readings are sent out in advance, so there is plenty of time to read them, pray over them (essential to

good reading) and practice.
