Seminarian
Jennifer Beckham Bio
Jennifer Mindek Beckham is a native of Connecticut who graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from UMass, Amherst in World Literature and Politics. She met her husband, organist, conductor & composer Todd Beckham, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Falmouth, Massachusetts while singing in the Compline choir.
Having worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Boulder, Colorado and Woods Hole, MA, the couple relocated for Jennifer's job at NOAA's Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.
When Todd was chosen to be Director of Music & organist at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Andrew, Jennifer followed the still, small, voice that led her to leave NOAA and work for St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in the inner city Kalihi-Palama neighborhood of Honolulu, where she worked as parish administrator and assisted in ministering to the houseless and food insecure.
After heading back to the mainland, Jennifer and Todd moved to Washington, DC for her position with the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation with the Department of State. After realizing her call while giving pastoral care to those at State and discerning her call with Christ Church + Washington Parish, Capitol Hill, Jennifer took the leap to go to seminary. An aspirant with the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, DC, Jennifer is in her middle year for the Master of Divinity program at Virginia Theological Seminary.
In their free time, the Beckhams enjoy music, the coast, and long walks with Rumi, their Bernese Mountain Dog and their two Himalayan popokis (cats), who hail from the Big Island of Hawaii.
